HISTORY

Australian Terrier

Up until recently there has been no formal grooming training programs in Australia. Although there are many grooming training programs in America, it is only in the last 10 years that groomers are finally being recognised as requiring a special ability.

Grooming an animal is not a simple process. There is a lot of expertise required to successfully groom a dog. Stamina is another requirement of the groomer. Having to deal with all sorts of personalities in the canine world needs lots of patience and understanding. Health hazards in the grooming industry are now being recognized and rectified – eg, fur inhalation, skin rashes, bad posture, correct footwear, safe working environment etc.

PomeranianThere is now a national grooming seminar run each year to further the skills of groomers in Australia. PIJAC (Pet Industry Joint Advisory Council) ran national grooming seminars and associated trade industry expos for 3-5 days in a different capital city of Australia for the past 7 years. We now have an augmented national pet industry association – PiAA (Pet Industry Association of Australia Ltd. They have set up a National Code of Practice in all applicable areas of the code. We have attended these seminars and achieved Companion Animal Hygienist I and II certificates making us highly qualified groomers.

We are pleased to announce that we have recently achieved National PiAA Accreditation in the industry. The only grooming business in the NT to achieve this goal.
